International Plastic Bag Free Day: Change Your Habits and Get Rid of Plastic Bags

Did you know that almost 10,000 tonnes of plastic debris enter Ontario’s lakes and rivers each year? This shocking statistic comes from ontario.ca and shows how serious the problem of plastic pollution is. Plastic bags are one of the main sources of this pollution. They take a long time (100-500 years) to break down and they harm the land and the marine life when they end up in landfills or oceans. For instance, according to the World Wildlife Fund, plastic bags are notorious for killing sea turtles, which mistake them for jellyfish and eat them.

What can we do to reduce the waste of plastic and save our planet?

There are many organizations that work hard to promote eco-friendly and zero-waste lifestyles. One of them is Zero Waste Europe, which created International Plastic Bag Free Day. This is a global initiative that aims to eliminate the use of single-use plastic bags in the world. It is celebrated on July 3 every year and is part of the Break Free from Plastic Movement. The goal of this movement is to promote a plastic-free world and to encourage sustainable solutions.

Are there any sustainable solutions?

One of the easiest and most effective solutions is to stop using plastic bags and switch to eco bags instead. Eco bags are bags that are made from environmentally friendly materials, such as cotton, hemp, non-woven fabric, recycled plastic, biodegradable bioplastics, or recyclable paper. These materials have less negative impact on the environment than conventional plastic bags because they are natural, biodegradable, recyclable, or renewable. Eco bags are also durable, reusable, and stylish. Why not customize your own eco bag today? Visit our website Alphaprints to find out how!
